General information 6th Flash Conference

The 6th Flash Conference will take place in Roscoff, close to the city of Brest in northern coast of Brittany. It will start with the Karlheinz Schmidt plenary lecture in the evening of Sunday 28th February 2010 and will finish on the morning of Thursday 4th March 2010. The accommodation of all participants will be in hotels close to the conference centre, which is a CNRS/UPMC marine research centre.

The conference will start on 28th February 2010 at 8 pm and registration will be possible from 3 pm on. Travel should be arranged accordingly. For departure on 4th March 2010, please do not book flights from Brest airport before 11 am, because back transfer from the marine research centre has to occur before.

By air:
Brest Guipavas Airport is the nearest one. It takes about 1h flight from Paris Airport (either Orly or Roissy CDG) using local airlines. Then to the Roscoff marine research, it takes about 45mn by taxi and it costs about € 80 Euros. Find below the timetables from the flights from Roissy CDG airport to Brest Guipavas Airport, the return ticket being about 300 €

By Train:
Line Paris - Brest with high-speed train (TGV) and stop at the Morlaix station. Then take the regional train (TER) to Roscoff. The ticket price is about 65 € for second class and it takes about 4h30 from Paris. Then it takes about 15mn by walk from the Roscoff railway station.
Some of you will take a shuttle (Bus) between Roscoff and Morlaix to make the timetables more flexible. The ticket price is about 6 €, it takes about 35 mns and the ticket (“Aller simple”) can be bought on the shuttle.
For the 4th March shuttle tickets will be bought for you to make it more convenient.

By ferry:
Ferry line from Plymouth (UK) in about 6h. Or from Cork (IRL) in about 14h. You should check with Brittany Ferries or Irish Ferries.
 
By car
From Paris (562 km):
Motorway A10 from Paris to Le Mans. Then Motorway A81 for Rennes. Then N12 for Saint-Brieux, Morlaix and then Roscoff. It takes about 5h.
 
From Bordeaux (682 km):
Motorway A10 from Bordeaux to Niort. Then Mortorway A83 for Nantes. Then N137 for Rennes. Then N12 for Saint-Brieux, Morlaix and then Roscoff. It takes about 7h.
